16 Days Kenya Wildlife Circuit and Indian Ocean Beach
About This 16-Day Safari
See several contrasting Kenyan safari regions before spending the final part of your holiday beside the Indian Ocean. From Nairobi, the journey travels north to Samburu, then through Naivasha, the Masai Mara and Nakuru before continuing to Amboseli and Tsavo West. The coast provides a change of pace after the wildlife circuit, with three full days reserved for leisure. This is a varied road itinerary with several substantial transfers, so accommodation and daily departure times are selected to support the route.
- Samburu’s northern landscapes and wildlife
- A Naivasha overnight between reserve regions
- Masai Mara wildlife drives
- Lake Nakuru game viewing
- Amboseli elephant habitats and possible mountain views
- Tsavo West and Mzima Springs
- Three full leisure days on the Kenyan coast

Day By Day Itinerary
Every day is planned by our local team and can be adjusted to your pace.
Arrive in Nairobi
Meet your transfer guide at the airport and continue to your Nairobi hotel. A brief introduction covers the route and the following morning’s departure. Keep the remainder of the day free to rest after travelling. Arrival-day meals are confirmed around your landing time and the selected hotel arrangement.
Journey north to Samburu
Depart Nairobi for Samburu, travelling through Kenya’s changing central and northern landscapes. Lunch and rest stops are organised to suit the day’s progress. On arrival, take an introductory game drive if there is sufficient time. The drier habitat sets a different tone from the southern parks you will visit later.
Wildlife along Samburu’s river and plains
Spend the day exploring Samburu on morning and afternoon drives. Look for wildlife using both dry scrub and riverine habitat. A midday break gives time to rest between the more productive cooler hours. The guide adapts the route to observations in the reserve, with sightings of particular species never assumed.
Samburu to Lake Naivasha
Leave Samburu after breakfast and travel south towards Lake Naivasha. The transfer passes from dry northern scenery into the central and Rift Valley landscapes. Arrive at your accommodation and enjoy a quieter afternoon. A lake boat outing can be quoted as an optional addition where the timing and local operator arrangements permit.
From Naivasha to the Masai Mara
Travel towards the Masai Mara with a lunch stop arranged around the road journey. Check into your camp or lodge before the afternoon wildlife programme. A first drive introduces the open plains and the animals using them. Return before the day ends and discuss the full safari day ahead.
A full wildlife day in the Mara
Explore the reserve with time to follow sightings and watch animal behaviour. A picnic allows a longer outing, while a return for lunch can suit guests who prefer a midday rest. Migration-related routes depend on the time of year and where herds are actually present. End the day at your camp after the final agreed wildlife session.
Masai Mara to Nakuru
Leave the Mara and continue towards Nakuru, with breaks during the drive. After arrival, a game drive explores the park’s different habitats where entry timing permits. Rhinos and woodland wildlife provide a contrast to the open Mara plains. Settle into accommodation near the park for the night.
Road transfer to Amboseli
Travel from Nakuru towards Amboseli on a substantial road day. Lunch is arranged around the journey rather than promised at a fixed early arrival time. An introductory park drive may be possible on reaching the area. Kilimanjaro can appear when weather allows, adding to the setting without being a guaranteed feature of the afternoon.
Amboseli’s elephants and wetlands
Spend a full day exploring Amboseli, taking advantage of cooler morning and late afternoon conditions. Watch how elephants and other animals use the wetlands and surrounding plains. A picnic or lodge break divides the day according to your chosen pace. Mountain views remain dependent on cloud cover, so wildlife observation is the consistent focus.
Amboseli to Tsavo West
Leave Amboseli after breakfast and continue to Tsavo West. The journey introduces a rougher, more varied landscape than the open plains of the previous stop. Take an afternoon drive if arrival permits, with the guide selecting suitable tracks. Return to the lodge or camp for dinner after the outing.
Explore Tsavo West
Visit selected wildlife areas and landmarks within Tsavo West on the agreed daily route. Mzima Springs is planned where current access permits, providing a distinct setting within the park. Continue searching for mammals and birds across woodland and open patches. A rest or lunch break keeps the full day manageable before your final night on safari.
Leave the parks for the Kenyan coast
Travel from Tsavo West towards the coast after breakfast. The exact route and arrival time depend on the selected beach hotel and any onward crossing or transfer. Check in and spend the remaining afternoon at leisure. Dinner follows your confirmed hotel meal plan rather than an assumed all-inclusive drinks package.
An unhurried beach day
Enjoy a full day without a scheduled safari drive or long road transfer. Relax at the hotel and use its available facilities at your own pace. Optional water activities can be discussed with the appropriate local operators. Choose outings according to conditions, participation requirements and any additional charges.
Coastal leisure or an optional excursion
Keep the day for rest or request an optional excursion suited to your interests. A boat trip, snorkelling outing or cultural visit can be quoted where available. These activities remain separate from the core beach stay unless specified in your booking. Return to the hotel with time to enjoy the evening by the coast.
Your final full coastal day
Spend the last full day on the coast as quietly or actively as you prefer. Check the next day’s transfer timing and hotel check-out arrangements. Any additional excursion should leave adequate time to organise luggage and onward travel. Enjoy your final evening at the beach accommodation.
Coast departure transfer
Transfer from the beach hotel to the confirmed departure airport or onward connection. The pick-up time is based on the hotel’s location, travel conditions and flight check-in requirements. Breakfast is included where the departure schedule permits. Extra meals, an extended room stay or a connection to another city are arranged separately if needed.
