6 Days Uganda Kingdom Heritage and Lake Mburo
About This 6-Day Safari
Explore Uganda through royal history, living traditions and the landscapes connected to local stories. Several nights around Kampala provide a base for Buganda heritage visits and an excursion towards Ssezibwa and Jinja. The route then travels through the western countryside to Lake Mburo, where wildlife viewing introduces the area’s natural setting. Guided interpretation distinguishes historical accounts and oral traditions, giving the journey more depth than a list of monuments.
- Bulange and the Lubiri royal precinct
- Buganda royal tombs and cultural interpretation
- Ssezibwa Falls and a Jinja excursion
- Katereke historical site on the western road
- Lake Mburo game drive and boat trip
- An agreed final nature outing before Kampala

Where You Will Go
The places this safari visits, in the order you will reach them.
Uganda’s smallest savannah park, walkable and home to zebras, giraffes, elands and buffalo.
Uganda’s adventure capital: the source of the White Nile, white water rafting and boat trips.
Day By Day Itinerary
Every day is planned by our local team and can be adjusted to your pace.
Buganda’s parliament and royal precinct
Begin with an introduction to Buganda’s institutions and their place in Uganda’s history. Visit Bulange and the Lubiri royal precinct with the appropriate site guides. The experience focuses on permitted visitor areas and interpretation rather than access to private royal spaces. Return to your accommodation with a clearer understanding of the landmarks you will explore over the next few days.
Royal tombs and heritage
Visit the agreed royal tomb sites with a local interpreter. Learn about burial traditions, architecture and the ways historical memory is preserved. Site-specific photography and conduct rules guide the visit throughout. Keep the afternoon flexible for further nearby heritage stops or a quieter return to the lodge, depending on the confirmed access arrangements.
Ssezibwa stories and a Jinja excursion
Travel east towards Ssezibwa Falls, where a guide introduces the cultural stories associated with the site. Enjoy the landscape from authorised paths while hearing how tradition shapes local understanding of the river. Continue towards Jinja for the agreed sightseeing programme. Return to Kampala after the outing, allowing for traffic rather than planning a late evening activity on top of the road journey.
Katereke and the route to Lake Mburo
Leave Kampala and visit Katereke’s historical site if its access has been confirmed. Your guide places the site’s story within the conflicts and succession history of the Buganda kingdom. Continue west with a lunch stop before reaching the Lake Mburo region. Settle into your lodge, where the setting changes from urban heritage to woodland and savannah.
Lake Mburo wildlife and landscape
Explore Lake Mburo on a morning game drive, watching for zebras, impalas and other mammals. Your guide can also discuss the landscape’s connections to surrounding pastoral communities. After lunch, take a boat excursion to observe the lake edge and its birds. Return to the lodge for an evening at a gentler pace than the earlier city excursions.
Morning nature outing and Kampala return
Enjoy an agreed morning nature outing before leaving the park. A guided walk or a visit to a suitable wildlife viewing point is chosen according to current park arrangements. Continue towards Kampala with lunch en route. The tour ends at the agreed city or Entebbe drop-off point, with flight timing considered in the transfer plan.
