Overview

Africa's Legendary High-Altitude Trails

The Rwenzori Mountains, nicknamed the Mountains of the Moon, hold Africa's third-highest peak and some of its strangest vegetation zones - giant lobelias and groundsel at altitude, glaciers near the equator.

Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak at 5,895 metres, requires no technical climbing gear but does demand fitness and a properly paced itinerary to manage altitude, which is where an experienced operator makes the real difference.

  • Rwenzori: Africa's third-highest range
  • Kilimanjaro: non-technical but high altitude
  • Full porter, cook and guide support included
  • Multiple route options by fitness level

Mountain Climbing Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need climbing experience for Kilimanjaro?

No technical skill is required, but a good fitness base and months of preparation are strongly recommended for the summit attempt.

What's the success rate for reaching the summit?

Success rates rise significantly on longer routes that allow better acclimatisation - we generally recommend at least 7 days on Kilimanjaro.

Is the Rwenzori climb harder than Kilimanjaro?

It's a different challenge - shorter in altitude gain but with more technical scrambling and consistently wet terrain.
